But this is really frightening. I am working hard on my new book Growing Our Way to Hope, which is about surviving beyond the oil-crunch using biomass and a relocalisation of society and energy conservation.

I hope to get it done by the end of march, when my first novel University Shambles is published; a comedy based on the destruction of the British university system which I witnessed at first hand... and then resigned...

That said, I may take a visiting position at Reading University to do some work in the biomass/algae field... and at the same time carry on running my businesses and writing.

My first book of poems is due for publication by the summer... something to be cheerful about in this depressing present set of circumstances!

Please take a look at today's posting based on an article someone sent me, that Russia's oil has peaked...

I think this is a beginning of the peak/gap.

Kindest regards,

Chris.Professor Chris Rhodeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12060542089215379056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19508699.post-1270735841007780342009-01-27T10:05:00.000+00:002009-01-27T10:05:00.000+00:00Hi, Chris,I agree with your analysis, very clearly...Hi, Chris,

I agree with your analysis, very clearly exposed (as usual) and quite credible.

As a related reading, one can also mention a recent declaration by Fatih Birol, chief economist of the International Energy Agency, reported by George Monbiot, published in The Gardian, showing the IEA’s awareness of the fact that the global production of oil is falling at a faster rate than previously expected.

In its 2007 World Energy Outlook, the IEA predicted a rate of decline in output from the world’s existing oilfields of 3.7% a year. This, it said, presented a short-term challenge, with the possibility of a temporary supply crunch in 2015, but with sufficient investment any shortfall could be covered.

But the new report, published at the end of 2008, carried a very different message: a projected rate of decline of 6.7%, which means a much greater gap to fill.

http://www.monbiot.com/archives/2008/12/15/at-last-a-date/

Regards

André.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
